THE EXISTENCE OF GOD
There are a variety of logical considerations that can be offered as proofs
for the existence of God.
Perhaps there are some of these proofs that cannot stand alone, but taken
together they present an insurmountable
barrage of evidence that proves the existence of God.
1. Cosmological: This states that for anything to exist there must be a
first cause. Something cannot come from nothing.
Because the universe exists there must be a creator. Gen. 1:1; John 1:3;
Col. 1:16-17; Heb. 3:4; Acts 17:24.
2. Teleological: Basically, the design of the universe indicates the
existence of a designer.
This includes the intricate environmental balance within the universe that
maintains life on planet earth.
And it includes the biological intricacies of living creatures and
especially the complex design of humans.
Romans 1:20, "for since the creation of the world, the invisible things of
Him, His eternal power and divine nature
have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made."
Psalm 19:1-6, "the heavens declare the glory of God, and their expanse
declares the works of His hands.
3. Ontological: Because the human mind can and does think of the existence
of a greater being than himself,
it stands to reason that such a being does in fact exist. This conception of
God's existence is in fact made known
WITHIN them. Rom. 1:19, "Because that which is known about God (His
existence) is evident within them for
God made it evident within them."
4. Religious: Because the existence of God or of "a" god is acknowledged for
whatever reason, by all the various religions
throughout history, it indicates that such a being does in fact exist.
Romans 1:21, "for even though they KNEW (of) God, they did not honor Him as
God or give thanks."
5. Moral: The mentality of man (his soul) possesses an inherent moral
barometer that recognizes and convicts right from wrong.
The existence of this barometer indicates a common designer and creator.
Ec. 7:29, "Behold, I have found only this, that God created men upright but
they have sought out many (contrary) viewpoints."
Romans 2:14-15, "For when Gentiles who do not have the Law instinctively
perform the requirements of the Law, these, though
not having the Law, are a law to themselves, in that they show the work of
the Law written in their hearts, their conscience
testifying and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them."
6. Biblical: The veracity of the Bible confirms the existence of God exactly
as He is represented in the text.

7. Christ's resurrection: The fact of Christ's resurrection proves that He
IS who He claimed to be and accomplished
what He claimed to accomplish. Accordingly, what He taught about God proves
the existence of God.
