THE CHARACTER OF GOD
Before the believer can truly rest in peaceful joy concerning
every situation in his life
He must know, understand and trust in the absolute
characteristics of God's essence.
1. THE ETERNITY OF GOD
The eternal God is a refuge, and underneath are the arms of eternity.
Deuteronomy 33.27a
Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; for His grace provision is everlasting.
Psalm 118.29
2. THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD
Yours O LORD is the greatness and the power and the glory and
the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and
the earth; Yours is the dominion O LORD, and you exalt yourself as head
over all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all, and
in your hand is power and might; and it lies in your hand to make great,
and to strengthen everyone.
1 Chronicles 29.11-12
3. THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD
The ROCK! His work is perfect, for all his ways are justice;
a God of faithfulness and without iniquity, righteous and upright is He.
Deuteronomy 32.4
4. THE JUSTICE OF GOD
Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He is
on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice. How
happy are those who wait for Him. Isaiah 30.18
5. THE LOVE OF GOD
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all,
how will He not also with Him freely give us all things. Romans 8.32
Casting all your worry upon Him for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5.7
6. THE POWER OF GOD
For nothing will be impossible with God. Luke 1.37
And being fully assured that what He had promised, He was able also to
perform. Romans 4.21
7. THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD
The Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation.
2 Peter 2.9
For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may
strongly support those whose heart is completely His.
2 Chronicles 16.9
8. THE PRESENCE OF GOD
Where can I go from your Spirit? Or where can I flee from your
presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in the
grave, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, if I dwell
in the remotest part of the sea, even there your hand will lead me and
your right hand will possess me. Psalm 139.7-10
Let your character be free from the love of money, being content with what
you have; for He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor will
I ever forsake you. Hebrews 13.5
9. THE TRUTH OF GOD
God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should
change His mind; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken and
will He not make it good? Numbers 23.19
The truth of the LORD is everlasting. Psalm 117.2
10. THE CONSTANCY OF GOD (unchanging)
Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming
down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting
shadow. James 1.17
For the word of the LORD is upright and all His work is done in faithfulness.
