SPIRITUAL GIFTS: FAITH

FAITH

1. 1 Cor. 12:9 - pistis

2. This is a sign gift. It is ability to perform wonders and signs which draw attention to the communication of Truth. Heb. 2:3-4

3. 1 Cor. 13:2 indicates that the type of faith activity involved is to perform miracle type phenomena.

4. This is not a gift of perceptive faith or application faith. That would violate volition and the exhortations of scripture.

5. It is temporary because it is a sign gift and ceases after the canon of scripture is complete.

A. Its place in the list of 1 Cor. 12:8-10

B. it is a sign gift because it cannot be a gift of any other kind of faith. There is no such effect in all of scripture as ability to believe. That is always a volitional issue.

C. So, as a sign gift is falls under Heb. 2:3-4. Also the principle of 1 Cor. 13:8-10 applies.

6. There is no indication of limitation, so it was probably available to both men and women.
